Beta draft, pending legal review. Lone Star Friday is in a closed beta. This policy may change before our public launch; we'll tell you in the app when they do.
Lone Star Friday Privacy Policy
Effective: October 7, 2026 · Version 2026-10-07 · Who we are: Lone Star Friday ("LSF", "we") is operated by Tech323 LLC, Stephenville, Texas. Questions: support@lsf.football.
Lone Star Friday is a fan-run app for Texas high school football scores and game chat, at lsf.football and lonestarfriday.app and in our iOS and Android apps. This policy says what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and your choices.
The short version
- We collect what we need to run accounts, show scores, keep chat safe, and fix bugs. That's it.
- No ads, no selling or sharing your information for advertising, and no third-party trackers.
- You can delete your account at any time from the Me tab.
- LSF is not for children under 13.
What we collect
| What | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Screen name, email address, and the password you choose (stored only as a one-way hash) | When you ask for an account | To run your account, let you log in, and email you about your account |
| Your birth year, and whether you're under 18 | When you ask for an account | To keep out children under 13 and to give 13 to 17 year olds safer settings. We never ask for your full birth date. Only LSF staff can see it; it's never shown to other users |
| When you agreed to these terms, and which version | When you ask for an account | So we can show what you agreed to |
| The optional note on your request | When you ask for an account | To help us decide on beta spots |
| Your favorite school, teams you follow, games you track | When you choose them | To show you your games |
| Scores you post, accuracy votes, final-score confirmations | When you post or vote | Fan-reported scores are the core of the app; each score shows who posted it |
| Game chat messages, Chat-tab threads and posts, reports you file, people you mute | When you chat, post, report or mute | Chat and keeping it safe |
| Bug reports you send, and automatic error reports from the app | When you tap "Report a bug" or the app hits an error | To fix problems |
A random device id (cookie lsf_device) and your IP address | When you log in and use the app | Security: stopping abuse and enforcing bans. A banned person's devices can be blocked |
| Pages you view, actions you take (follow, post, chat, search terms), your device type and browser | As you use the app | To understand what's used and to debug |
Login cookie (lsf_session) | When you log in | Keeps you logged in. It can't be read by scripts |
On your phone: the app saves pages and scores you've already opened so they still show with weak signal at a stadium. Opening the login screen clears them.
What we don't collect: your precise location, contacts, photos, or payment information. We don't store anything about student athletes beyond what schools publish (team names, coaches, schedules and scores).
Links out: tapping a stadium address opens Google Maps, whose own privacy policy applies there.
How we use it
- To provide the app: accounts, scores, follows, chat.
- To keep it safe and fair: rate limits, spotting abuse, enforcing bans, reviewing reported messages.
- To fix and improve it: error reports and usage counts.
- To respond to legal requests (see "Sharing").
We don't sell your personal information, share it for targeted advertising, or use it for profiling that has legal or similar effects on you.
Sharing
- Service providers that run the app for us: hosting (DigitalOcean, United States); email delivery (Resend, United States), which receives your email address and the message when we email you; and staff notifications (ntfy), which receive only screen names and short notes, never emails.
- Legal reasons: if required by law, or to protect someone's safety (for example, a threat of violence posted in chat).
- Business transfer: if LSF is sold or merged, under this policy.
Everything else that other users see, you choose to post: your username, scores you post, and chat messages are visible to other users of the app.
How long we keep it
| Data | Kept |
|---|---|
| Account information | Until you delete your account |
| Account requests not confirmed by email | 48 hours |
| Waitlisted requests | Until we let you in, or July 31, 2027 at the latest |
| Turned-down requests | 30 days |
| Email confirmation and password reset links | They stop working after 24 hours (confirmation) or 30 minutes (password reset) and are deleted soon after |
| Pages viewed and actions taken | 90 days, then only daily totals with no user or IP attached |
| IP addresses | 30 days |
| Failed login attempts | 30 days |
| Bug and error reports | 180 days |
| Chat messages and Chat-tab posts | About 18 months; longer only while a report about them is open, or if they came from a banned account |
| Moderation and admin records | 2 years |
| Backups | Up to 14 days after the data itself is deleted |
Deleting your account
Me → Delete my account, or email support@lsf.football. This permanently removes your account, follows, tracked games, mutes, devices, activity history, votes and chat messages. Scores you posted stay in each game's history, shown as "@deleted", because other fans rely on the record. A chat message that is under review for a report is kept, without your name, until the review is finished. Backups age out within 14 days.
Your choices and rights
- See, correct or delete your information: use the app, or email us.
- Texas residents (and others, depending on where you live) may have the right to confirm, access, correct, delete and get a copy of their data, and to appeal our decision. Email support@lsf.football; we answer within 45 days. If we deny an appeal, you can contact the Texas Attorney General.
- We don't respond to "Do Not Track" signals because we don't track you across other sites.
Children
LSF is not for children under 13. When you sign up we ask your birth year (never your full birth date). If you are under 13, we stop there and save nothing. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, email support@lsf.football and we will delete it.
Teens (13 to 17). Teens can use LSF with a parent or guardian's permission. For teen accounts: your age is visible only to LSF staff; your email and birth year are never shown to anyone; and features like private messages, photos or ads, if we ever add them, will be off for teens by default. A parent or guardian can ask us to delete their teen's account by emailing support@lsf.football.
Security
Passwords are stored as one-way hashes; connections are encrypted (HTTPS); access to data is limited to the people who run LSF; and admin actions are logged. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach that affects you, we will tell you as the law requires.
Changes
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll say so in the app before the change takes effect. The effective date is at the top.
